Staff constribute to taught lecture courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervise final year  undergraduate projects within the School of Biosciences.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Recent dissertation titles offered include:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<li>How can biomass for electricity generation be made sustainable?<\/li>\n<li>\u201cSustainable Intensification\u201d of Agriculture \u2013 can it be achieved?<\/li>\n<li>Race to the bottom: can the deep sea sustain the rush for minerals and marine genetic resources?<\/li>\n<li>Can alkalinity management help counter climate change and ocean acidification?<\/li>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Previous lab-based projects include:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Presence and leachability of copper, chromium and arsenic from preserved wood used in children&#8217;s play equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Persistent organic contaminants in fish oil dietary supplements.<\/li>\n<li>Chemical residues and metabolites in urine as bioindicators of exposure to some commonly used chemical additives.<\/li>\n<li>Fucoid seaweeds as bioindicators of metal contamination in the Exe estuary.<\/li>\n<li>The use of pine needles to detect persistent organic pollutants in urban and rural environments.<\/li>\n<li>Mosses as biomonitors of atmospheric metal concentrations in urban and rural environments.<\/li>\n<li>A survey of the fragrance additives found in a range of household products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to our research activities, the Greenpeace Research Laboratories actively participates within the University of Exeter.
